Jittr Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how Jittr (“Jittr,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, and protects your information when you use the Jittr mobile application and website (together, the “Service”). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to the practices described in this Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

1. Who We Are
Jittr is a coffee-rating community where people log, rate, and review coffees and cafés, discover trending and top-rated spots, and connect with other coffee drinkers. Jittr is operated from the Commonwealth of Virginia, United States. This Policy applies to all users of the Service worldwide.
2. Information We Collect
We collect the following categories of information:
Information you provide
- Account information: your email address, username, and display name. Your password is handled by our authentication provider and stored only in hashed form — we never see or store your plaintext password.
- Profile information: optional details such as a profile photo or avatar and any bio information you add.
- Content you create: coffee and café ratings and scores, written reviews, flavor tags, photos, comments, café check-ins, and friend connections.
- Business verification information (business accounts only): if you apply to verify a business, we collect your legal business name, role, work email, phone number, website, and any proof-of-management details you submit.
- Support and communications: the contents of support tickets or messages you send us.
Information collected automatically
- Location information: with your permission, we use your device’s location to show nearby cafés, power map and discovery features, and associate check-ins with places. You can disable location access in your device settings, though some features may not work as well.
- Usage and device data: basic technical information such as device type, app version, and log data generated when you use the Service.
Payment information (business features)
If you purchase a paid business feature, payments are processed by our payment provider, Stripe. We do not collect or store your full card number — Stripe handles payment details directly. We may receive limited information such as a confirmation of payment and subscription status.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Create and manage your account and authenticate you;
- Provide core features — logging ratings, reviews, photos, check-ins, friends, and discovery of trending and top-rated cafés;
- Show nearby cafés and map features based on your location;
- Display your public content (such as ratings and reviews) to other users;
- Operate café and coffee rankings, which aggregate ratings across users;
- Send transactional emails such as password-reset notifications, account confirmations, and responses to support requests;
- Process and verify business accounts and any related payments;
- Maintain the security, integrity, and reliability of the Service, and prevent abuse, fraud, and spam;
- Comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Use.
4. How We Share Information
We share information only as described below. We do not sell your personal information (see Section 5).
- Publicly, by your choice: content you post — ratings, reviews, photos, flavor tags, comments, your username and display name, and café check-ins — is visible to other users of the Service. Please do not include sensitive personal information in content you post publicly.
- With service providers: we share information with the vendors that operate our infrastructure, strictly to provide the Service (see Section 6).
- For legal reasons: we may disclose information if required by law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request, or to protect the rights, safety, and property of Jittr, our users, or the public.
- Business transfers: if Jittr is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction; we will notify you of any change in ownership or use of your personal information.
5. We Do Not Sell Your Data
Jittr does not sell your personal information, and we do not rent or trade it to third parties for their own marketing. We do not share your personal information with advertisers for cross-context behavioral advertising. The only parties who receive your information are the service providers that help us run the Service, and only as needed to operate it on our behalf.
6. Service Providers
We rely on a small number of trusted providers to operate Jittr. Each processes information only to provide their service to us:
- Supabase — database and authentication (stores your account and content data).
- Vercel — application hosting and delivery.
- Resend — sending transactional emails (e.g. password resets, support, business notifications).
- Stripe — payment processing for paid business features.
- Google Maps / Places — maps, café location data, and place search.
These providers may process and store data in the United States and other countries where they operate.
7. Data Retention
We keep your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. If you delete your account, we delete or de-identify your personal information, except where we are required to retain it to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, prevent abuse, or enforce our agreements. Some content you contributed may persist in aggregated or anonymized form (for example, contributing to overall café ratings) in a way that no longer identifies you.
8. Your Rights & Choices
You have control over your information:
- Access and update: you can view and edit your profile and content within the app.
- Delete your account: you can permanently delete your account from within the app. This removes your account and associated personal data, subject to the retention exceptions above.
- Location: you can grant or revoke location access at any time in your device settings.
- Email: the emails we send are transactional (account-related). If we ever introduce optional marketing emails, you will be able to opt out.
Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under applicable laws — such as the right to access, correct, delete, or port your personal information, or to object to or restrict certain processing. Residents of California and certain other U.S. states, and users in the EU/UK, may have specific rights under laws such as the CCPA/CPRA and the GDPR. To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details in Section 13. We will respond as required by applicable law and will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.
9. Security
We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including encrypted connections, hashed passwords, access controls on our database, and restricted administrative access. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security, but we work to protect your information and to address vulnerabilities promptly.
10. Children’s Privacy
Jittr is intended for users who are at least 13 years old. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 (or under the minimum age required in your jurisdiction, such as 16 in parts of the EU/UK). If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will take steps to delete it.
11. International Users
Jittr is operated from the United States. If you access the Service from outside the United States, you understand that your information will be transferred to, stored, and processed in the United States and other countries where we or our service providers operate, which may have different data-protection laws than your country.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, notify you within the Service. Your continued use of Jittr after an update means you accept the revised Policy.
